Nokia is back with an official announcement! HMD Global – that now owns the Nokia brand has just announced its new Android-powered handset – Nokia 6.

The Nokia 6 is powered by the latest version of Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. The smartphone hosts a 5.5-inch HD display covered with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass. To its heart lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset. Additionally, the device hosts 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. The device has a non-removable battery with a 3000mAh capacity, sufficient enough for all day use.

Keeping with the Nokia brand for its design and quality, the Nokia 6 comes with a superior aluminum unibody design. HMD Global promises this to be a part of the “Nokia phone hallmarks of quality, superior craftsmanship and relentless focus on the consumer experience.”

The front of the handset features a combination of the home button and fingerprint sensor at the bottom, along with a firing speaker that comes with Dolby Atmos tech and ‘dual amplifiers’ for larger sounds.

Having a look at its camera section, Nokia 6 comes with a 16MP primary shooter to its rear with f/2.0 aperture. It is supported by a dual-tone flash and features phase detection and auto focus. The front side has an 8.0MP selfie camera with a f/2.0 aperture.

At this moment, details on the software are limited, and we are wondering whether Nokia will have an Android skinned OS.

However, HMD Global has previously hinted that the device could run near-stock Android.

Now for a bit of disappointment which some Nokia fans might be sad to hear about, is that the handset has been launched exclusively for the Chinese market CNY 1699.

I Don’t know how the company’s trusted fans in India – where the company enjoyed a very dominant position for a long time – are going to react at this?

However, in December 2016, a  Nokia rumor surfaced claiming that the company is likely to announce two new Android smartphones in 2017. With the MWC event that is awaited next month, we expect the company to come with another handset for the global market.
