Nokia – the Finland-based mobile company rose to fame in the first half-decade of the 21st century and was one of the most trusted brands for mobile handsets. However, later with the arrival of iPhone and many companies like Samsung coming up affordable Android-based smartphone handsets, Nokia somehow seemed to struggle to face the heat of the competitive smartphone market.
Though being a late entrant, and after being acquired by computing giant – Microsoft, Nokia released a range of Windows-based “Lumia” handsets right from the affordable to the high-end segment. The company, however, managed to gain a little momentum in the market, with the support of its loyal and trusted fans, but couldn’t do enough to beat its competitors.
But its seems that the game is yet not over for the Finnish tech giant! Last month in November 2016, the company announced its plans of coming with Android-powered devices in the first half of 2017.
The launch of the new devices under the Nokia brand will be pursued by Finland-based company HMD Global who has been authorized to sell the Nokia branded handsets for the next years. Also, the latest rumors coming from China suggest that Nokia will bring its Android Smartphone soon to the market at the MWC event to be held in February 2017.
Another Chinese website – Weibo has recently released renders for two of Nokia’s expected upcoming Android handsets. Though nothing is concrete about the released renders and it would be too early to completely believe them at this moment.
The first one is an alleged high-end Nokia smartphone with a not so unique design but some heavy load specs at heart with the codename “Nokia P.” As seen in the image below, the handset in matte black hosts a NOKIA logo to its back with a single camera while the front doesn’t host any home button that could also be a possible fingerprint sensor.
Regarding specs, the device is expected to have the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset to its heart, with a 6GB of onboard RAM memory. With Nokia always coming with top-of-the-line lens solutions from beginning, the handset is expected to feature a 23MP Carl Zeiss primary camera to its back.
While the other smartphone whose renders have surfaced recently is the Nokia C1.
However, this looks more like a concept smartphone rather than an actual device. The front side hosts a long speaker bar with a camera and a sensor on its either side.
While having a look at its back, there is a dual-camera setup onboard with LED Xenon flashlight and capacitive buttons on either side. The camera to its rear side is expected to have 12MP+16MP while the front side will host a 5MP shooter for selfies.
While other specs of the handset confirm it to be coming with a 4GB of onboard RAM memory and a Snapdragon 820 chipset to its heart. The Nokia C1 is rumored to come in three storage variants of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options.
The devices are also expected to powered with Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. Additional expectations include a 3.5mm audio jack and a Type-C USB connector. Moreover, you can also expect a 3120mAh of battery juice for one complete charge.
However, just note that these are just rumors and renders released and we waiting to bring our readers with any official word or concrete news on the same. Stay tuned!
